Contributions to Our Community

In addition to supporting non-profit organizations, British Properties has contributed to West Vancouver by gifting land, building infrastructure, creating community amenities, tending to the environment, and more.

Infrastructure & Transportation

  • Designed, financed and constructed the Lions Gate Bridge
  • Designed and constructed Chippendale Road joining the newest British Properties neighbourhoods to Cypress Bowl Road and Cypress Village
  • Paid for traffic signals at 21st Street and Skilift Road and at 15th Street and Mathers Avenue
  • Contributed to traffic calming measures on 21st Street
  • Committed to providing developer-funded transit service between Cypress Village and Park Royal
  • Contributed funds for a new Fire Station in Cypress Village
  • Provided major funding for peak stormwater protection for existing residential neighbourhoods below Highway 1
  • Designed and constructed the popular Trestle Bridge in the Uplands Neighbourhood

Recreation & Education

  • Built the Capilano Golf Course and Clubhouse and Park Royal Shopping Centre
  • Made land available for Hollyburn Country Club, Collingwood School and Mulgrave School
  • Provided the land and constructed a level platform for a new sports field for the community in Cypress Village (McGavin Field)
  • Committed to providing additional funds for the finishing of McGavin Field
  • Contributed to the construction of West Vancouver Place for Sport
  • Committed to providing funds for a new community centre in Cypress Village
  • Contributed to the Pauline Johnson Outdoor Learning and Community Park

Parks & Trails

  • Provided 262 acres of land for a new park at Eagleridge
  • Provided a right-of-way for the Trans Canada Trail
  • Created over 200 acres of parkland
  • Constructed over 5 kilometres of the Mountain Path, a paved multi-use path, and associated activity nodes, with additional secondary trails
  • Contributed funds to a new hiking/mountain bike climbing trail near the second switch back of Cypress Bowl Road
  • Committed to providing funds for new mountain biking trails above Cypress Village

Community & Environment

  • Constructed fish ladders on Hadden Creek at Highway 1 and at Stevens Drive and stream enhancements works between Highway 1 and Stevens Drive
  • Contributed to fish passage, stream enhancement and foreshore protection works on McDonald Creek, Rodgers Creek, Nelson Creek and Cypress Creek
  • Constructed multiple wetlands in the Rodgers Creek neighbourhoods
  • Committed to providing funds for stream enhancement works on Hadden Creek between Hadden Drive and the Capilano Golf Course
  • Donated a serviced site to the District of West Vancouver for purpose-built rental housing with 150 units in Rodgers Creek
  • Provided funding for the extension of the West Vancouver Memorial Library
  • Contributed to stream and habitat enhancement works on Mosquito Creek in North Vancouver
  • One of the founders of the Coho Festival Society
  • Designed, built and operating the Cypress Pop-Up Village with The Shed restaurant, playfield, bike wash, parking, washrooms and staging with access to the Mountain Path and other trails
